About Me

My tribe

I’m not sure really what to tell you about me. I grew up and still live in a small town in rural Texas. I am a happily married mother or 4 children. Their ages are 25,22,19 and 10. My two oldest are married, my next to the youngest is in college and the youngest is a 5th grader – whose math and science teacher happens to be his oldest sister. I have a grandson who is two who will quickly tell you that YayYay is the best! It is true that grandchildren are God’s reward for not killing you children.

Russell and I have been married for 28 years. We started dating when I was a Jr in high school and was 16 years old. It hasn’t always been easy but it is worth it.

My career

I was a stay at home mom until my youngest was 3 when opened my own beauty shop. I worked there until he started school and then was offered a job at the school as a “Campus Technology Specialist”. I am basically the help desk. I enjoy my job but my home is where my heart is – everyday.

My truth

I believe my faith and my sense of humor are two of my greatest strengths and I love to share both of those. I don’t always get it right and I am probably one of the most irreverent people you will ever meet. If you make me mad on the wrong day, I am apt to cuss a blue streak. If you make me mad on a different day, I am apt to never let you know I’m mad and pray for God to smite you in your stupidity. Make me mad on a different day and I will genuinely pray for God to help me forgive you and show me where we can be reconciled. I will remember that God sees us all the same. We are sinners. Some of us are just saved by grace and covered with the blood Jesus but none of us are perfect.

Don’t share my faith? That is OK. I am also not one of the those people who hates others because they believe differently than I do. I’m not even so delusional that I will tell you there is no such thing as Christians who hate. There are. I promise not to judge you or them and just ask that you return the favor to both of us. I think the world would be a kinder place if people leave the judgement to the One who is qualified.

My animals

Enough of that seriousness…I also love animals. I have 4 dogs and at the moment no cats, but I’m in the market for a good one. The animals are the reason I can’t have nice things.

My hobbies

Are way too many to list. I love to knit, crochet, make jewelry, and read. If I had all the money I have spent on different hobbies, I could pay off my house.

Odd facts about me.

Scrambled egg sandwiches on white bread with Miracle Whip and tabasco sauce are one of my favorite foods. So are ramen noodles…don’t judge.

I haven’t worked out lately but I enjoy it.

I didn’t have pets when I was little.

I still have a cosmetology license and like to wear my hair super short. I hardly ever go out without makeup and love to look at beautiful makeup styles.

I write and eat left handed. I bat left handed and roll a perm left handed. I do everything else right handed. Both of my daughters are left handed and both of my sons are right handed.

I have always been scared of the dark. I am less so now than I used to be.

I have an alter ego named Sister Suzanne Uvailia Henderson. You might get to meet her in video sometime.

When I was little I wanted to be Miss American and I pretended I was being interviewed by Johnny Carson.

I don’t like radishes or celery, but never met another vegetable I didn’t like…well, hominy but that is technically not a vegetable. It is just jacked up corn.

I love all kinds of music.
